Each week we try to bring you a regular round-up of recent features and enhancements to the iControlWP WordPress Management system.
This week has seen a couple of huge ones, including a new WorpDrive backup feature you’re going to love.
Clone WordPress using cPanel
We’ve already mentioned this in a previous post, but it’s worth noting this here in case you missed it.
Our WordPress clone tool lets you create a clone of an existing WordPress site on a new domain simply by providing the FTP and MySQL details of the source and target.
And now, if you supply the cPanel details for the destination site, you don’t even need to create your new database – we’ll do it all for you automatically.
Install Any WordPress Theme By File Upload
With premium plugins and themes, you normally have to download them to your computer, and then upload them to WordPress manually.
Now, with iControlWP you can upload them to us, and we’ll distribute them to your websites for you.
We released this for plugins already and we’ve now just made this same feature work for WordPress themes too.
Free Weekly Updates Digest Email
As of Monday 20th, we’re sending out a free updates digest email for all our premium (and trial) clients.
The update email will list a summary of:
- All websites that require a WordPress Core upgrade
- All plugins that need updated, and the number of sites that need it.
- All themes that need updated, and the number of sites that need it.
This lets you start the week knowing exactly what’s required for your sites, and paves the way for our new add-on coming soon that will send you daily update digests.
WorpDrive Backup Digest Email
Enable a backup email summary
From the day WorpDrive was released, we’ve provided you the ability to see the list of changed files between backups.
Something we all take for granted now, but you’d never find this in ZIP backup solution.
As of today, WorpDrive Pro users can opt to receive an email that details a list of all changed files after every backup.
The email will list for you clearly all files that have been added, all changed files, and all deleted files since the previous backup.
Why is this useful?
- You can quickly see what’s changed on your site without having to log into your control panel.
- You can monitor your sites and review what has changed – this lets you spot unwarranted changes that may have occurred say, due to a security breach or hack.
This feature, as with most upcoming WorpDrive enhancements, is available primarily for WorpDrive Pro clients. WorpDrive Starter users will need to upgrade to use this feature… but they will always have a list of changed files available in their WorpDrive manager on iControlWP.
To activate this option, please go to your Profile -> Preferences. Then under the Email tab, you’ll see a new section for WorpDrive options. Click to check the option on/off – by default, this is off.
